How to Re-certify as an OHC

Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationists (COHCs) renew their credentials every 5 years. COHCs must contact CAOHC if their contact information changes to guarantee they will be notified of the recertification date. Use the change of address form to submit changes (eg, email, mailing address, employer) to the CAOHC administrative office.

Recertification extension

COHCs maintain their own records to know when they need to re-certify. CAOHC sends recertification reminders 1 year and 6 months before the expiration.

COHCs need to locate a recertification course in his or her area. If courses aren't available or extenuating circumstances prevent the COHC from registering close to the expiration date, CAOHC gives COHCs a 60-day grace period to renew their certification.

If you need an extension, complete the recertification extension application at least 30 days before certification expires. Extensions won't be granted after the expiration date. COHCs who did not request an extension have to retake the 20-hour certification course.
