New Executive Committee Named to CAOHC Council
New Representatives Join Council

Milwaukee, Wisconsin -- The Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) elected a new Executive Committee effective November 2005. CAOHC has been a leader in providing standards for occupational hearing conservation since its inception in 1973. CAOHC's main objective is to promote the conservation of hearing by enhancing the quality of occupational hearing programs. Currently there are over 21,000 CAOHC certified occupational hearing conservationists trained through CAOHC Course Directors to protect the hearing health of workers in industry and mining.

 

The Executive Committee is led by the CAOHC Chair James Banach, MBA, representing the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) on the Council. He has been a member of the Quest Technologies management team since 1984; he is currently the CIO and Vice President of Operations. He has been a past president of the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA), and past chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Noise Committee (AIHA).

Other officers include:

Vice-Chair Mary M. McDaniel, MS CCC-A, represents the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) on the Council. She owns the consulting firm Pacific Hearing Conservation, Inc. in Seattle, WA . She also serves as an adjunct audiologist to Center for Hearing Health in San Ramon, California.

The Secretary/Treasurer, Paul J. Brownson, MD FACOEM FAAFP is a r epresentative of the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Dr. Brownson is the Corporate Medical Coordinator for The Dow Chemical Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has been employed by Dow since 1975.

Immediate Past Chair, Richard W. Danielson, PhD, representing the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) is an associate professor of otorhinolaryngology and communicative sciences at Baylor College of Medicine and the National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI), Houston TX, and is serving as the Manager for Audiology and Hearing Conservation, Johnson Space Center - National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

New Representative Joins Council

The Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) approved these new Council Members on their board of directors at a recent meeting in Chicago, Illinois.

Robert Thayer Sataloff, MD DMA, representative of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). Dr. Sataloff is Professor of Otolaryngology at Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He is Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at Graduate Hospital; and Adjunct Professor of Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, The University of Pennsylvania.

David D. Lee, MIS CIH CSP, will represent the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Mr. Lee is employed as a Safety Specialist at the University of Nevada, Reno.
