CAOHC to Present Two Professional Certification Courses

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - The Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) is conducting a semi annual Course Director Workshop. This course will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in Portland, Oregon. Individuals completing this workshop may apply to CAOHC for Course Director (CD) certification/recertification.

This workshop is a requirement for:

  1. New Course Director candidates with applications approved by the CAOHC Screening Committee; and
  2. Course Directors (CDs) certified or recertified in 2003 who have not yet recertified.

Course Directors are responsible for planning and conducting CAOHC-approved training courses for Occupational Hearing Conservationists (OHCs). The Director is responsible for ensuring that specific CAOHC course guidelines are followed and for determining the qualifications and competence of participating faculty members.

This workshop has been designed to meet the differing needs of new and recertifying Course Directors. Changes include greater opportunity for CDs to share real-life situations, engage in discussion on the responsibilities and limitations of the Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist in recordkeeping and regulations (OSHA, MSHA) and compensation issues.

Application and registration forms are required and available on the CAOHC website at http://www.caohc.org/workshop/

The Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) is an organization dedicated to the establishment and maintenance of training standards for those who safeguard hearing in the workplace. CAOHC has been a leader in providing standards for occupational hearing conservation programs since its inception in 1973. Currently, there are over 21,000 CAOHC certified occupational hearing conservationists trained through CAOHC Course Directors to protect the hearing health of workers in industry and mining.

A second course will be held in the Chicago area on Friday, November 7, 2008.
