ANNOUNCES - THE 4TH EDITION HEARING CONSERVATION MANUAL
(Milwaukee,
Wisconsin) - The Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing
Conservation (CAOHC) announced the release of the Hearing Conservation
Manual, 4th Edition, by Alice Suter, PhD (ISBN #0-9723143-0-X).
If you're a member of a hearing conservation team in industry or
mining - including occupational hearing conservationists, audiologists,
physicians, occupational health nurses, industrial hygienists, acoustical
engineers, safety engineers, and others - you need this manual for
front-line defense against hearing loss in your workers.
You'll
find invaluable information & significant revisions including:
how to set-up & maintain a hearing conservation program, how
the hearing conservation team works to prevent hearing loss, updated
and expanded regulatory information from OSHA & MSHA, three
American National Standard Institute (ANSI) documents, a current

The
author is Alice H. Suter, PhD. Suter served as a Senior Bioacoustical
Scientist in the U.S. EPA's Office of Noise Abatement and Control.
As Manager of the Noise Standard at the U.S. Department of Labor's
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), she was the
chief author of the Hearing Conservation amendment to the noise
standard (29 CRF 1910.95). Dr. Suter joined the National Institute
for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in 1988 as a Visiting
Scientist and Research Audiologist. She is presently a private consultant
in industrial audiology and community noise abatement.
The Editor is Elliott H. Berger, MS, Senior Scientist for Auditory
Research at E"A"R / Aearo Company, where for over 25 years
he has studied noise and hearing conservation, with an emphasis
on hearing protection. He chairs
the ANSI working group on hearing protectors, has been a lead editor
for two other highly-regarded texts in noise and hearing conservation.
